Wedding Tips and Tricks

A Bride’s Guide to Bridesmaids

Congratulations, you have just picked your bridal party members! Now what?

As a wedding planner and a former Bridezilla, I have put together two templates that I believe will help set up your squad to be the most supportive girl group since the Spice Girls.

Let me first start off by saying that not all bridesmaids are female anymore. I will refer to them in this article as she/her but please change any pronouns to fit your group of badass friends!

We all wish that our friends could read our minds to give us our ideal Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Weekend/Gift, but unfortunately they can’t. You are going to have to tell them what you want, what you really, really, want (Winky Face).

I recommend putting together your general ideas and expectations of the wedding process into the two templates below. The first is a letter to your bridal party from you (the bride). The second is a survey for your bridal party members to fill out and give back to you.

To all of my amazing Bridesmaids:

Thank you so much for joining my squad. I’m so excited to share these once-in-a-lifetime memories with you!

Below are some of my notes/ideas of what the next year or so will bring us. I will be needing your support throughout this entire process and look forward to sharing this experience with you all. My goal is to have a good time and not break anyone’s bank. I love you all and thank you again for being a part of my bridal party!

Events/Dates to Remember:
Please note that all of these dates are tentative and if you already have a conflict, please let me know so we can reschedule. If you don’t wish to attend a specific event, that is fine, but I will miss you dearly and may leave sappy voicemails for weeks on your phone. You’re welcome.

Dress Shopping:

  • Where will it be: The Bibbity Bobbity Boutique and Minnie’s Boutique
  • When will it be: 3/15/20 at 10 AM and 1 PM with lunch in between appointments.
  • My Notes: It will just be the three of us and my mom. No need to bring anything special.

Bridal Shower:

  • Who will host this: Jasmine
  • Where will it be: Her Palace
  • When will it be: 5/4/20 or 6/6/20 (Do those work for you all?)
  • My Notes: I have a list of about 30-35 people. I don’t care about the theme. Maybe a Tea Party theme? Not Alice in Wonderland though (kind of creeps me out).

Bachelorette Weekend:

  • Who will host this: Aurora
  • Where will it be: TBD
  • When will it be: Does the weekend of June 13th work for everyone?
  • My Notes:
    • Somewhere near a beach!
    • I have about 15 guests in mind.
    • I want to take Friday off but leave the option for people to arrive Friday after work.
    • Rental house would be preferable than a hotel but either is fine with me.
    • I would love a mix of mellow at the house time and fun adventures.
    • At least one night of dancing please!!!
    • Let’s keep the budget low since this is a big year for a lot of people.
    • I will buy t-shirts/tanks for this event as my thank you to the attendees. I will make sure everyone has them before the weekend.
    • Not into strippers so don’t worry about that.
    • My drink of choice is vodka cranberry! Not that into beer, and definitely love champagne too.

Wedding Weekend: September 1-3

  • We will be having a rehearsal and dinner on the 1st.
  • Wedding on the 2nd. I will talk to you all later about if you want to opt-in for hair and makeup but expect to be with me all day.
  • Sunday Morning Brunch: Just with the inner circle. Location: TBD.

Decor Preferences:

  • NO GLITTER! I will kill you all! I hate glitter!
  • No babies breath please.
  • Feel free to use as much lavender as you want!
  • Our colors are tea green, lavender, and cream.

Wedding Day Attire:

  • Website: www.azazie.com
  • Color: Lavender
  • Style: Must be floor length with no additional colors (lace, belts, etc). Other than that pick whatever you would like!
  • Shoes: Beige Wedges

Contact List:

  • MOH: Name- Number- Email
  • Bridesmaid: Name- Number- Email
  • Bridesmaid: Name- Number- Email
  • Bridesmaid: Name- Number- Email
  • Bridesmaid: Name- Number- Email

Brides- I would also recommend having your squad fill out a survey like the one below. Make it personal! I am a Disney/Harry Potter nerd so I added those fun ones in but you should create questions that fit your group!

Bridesmaid Survey:

Name:

Shirt Size:

Favorite Color:

Least Favorite Color:

Favorite Disney Princess:

Favorite Harry Potter Character:

Which Spice Girl are you?

Food Allergies or Preferences:

Flower Allergies/Preferences:

Pizza Preference:

Any Alcohol Dislikes?

Do you have pierced ears?

Any jewelry allergies?

Yay! You got through my Bridal Party templates!

You are well on your way to having the best wedding planning experience with your favorite ladies!

For Funsies: Here is a Spice Girl video to make your day that much better!
